Northwest University and Salento University celebrated the graduation of the Class of 2025 from the NWU-Salento School of Cultural Heritage and Fine Arts on June 13 in Xi’an, Shaanxi province. This collaboration merges the strengths of both institutions in cultural heritage preservation and art restoration, offering students a blend of educational approaches from East and West. The school focuses on providing top-tier theoretical and practical training in cultural relics and art restoration, preparing students to excel on a global scale.
Of the inaugural 57 graduates, 15 have gained admission to prestigious international universities like Cambridge and University College London, while 12 have secured spots at renowned domestic institutions such as the University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Fudan University. These graduates, as pioneers of the program, embody a fusion of Eastern and Western influences, equipped with interdisciplinary thinking and a global perspective to tackle the challenges of cultural heritage preservation.
Cao Rong, vice president of Northwest University, emphasized the sacred duty of cultural heritage protection as a mission to safeguard human civilization's legacy. Graduates were encouraged to uphold these values and pursue their dreams fearlessly, carrying forward the university's legacy. Girolamo Fiorentino, representing Salento University, praised the rich historical ties between China and Mediterranean nations, highlighting the significance of the Sino-Italian educational partnership in fostering fruitful exchanges and cooperation in higher education.
Following the graduation ceremony, guests explored the 2025 exhibition showcasing graduates' achievements in cultural relic analysis, restoration, calligraphy, and painting. This exhibition serves as a testament to the college's success in talent development under the Sino-Italian educational framework.
